Continuation of Practical Experiments at Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center Laboratory

As part of strengthening the practical and applied skills of students at Al-Mustaqbal University – College of Engineering Technologies, practical laboratory experiments for students of the Department of Electrical Engineering Technologies continue to be conducted at the Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center Laboratory within the course Solar PV Systems 1 (Lab), under the supervision of Lecturer Esraa Mohammed Hassan. The experiment involved the practical application of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, where students studied the effect of series and parallel connections of solar panels on the electrical characteristics of a solar PV system. Students performed practical measurements of open-circuit voltage (Voc) and short-circuit current (Isc) using a Solar Panel Multimeter, followed by implementing different panel connection configurations and analyzing the obtained results. In addition, students plotted the relationships between the number of panels and voltage in the case of series connection, and between the number of panels and current in the case of parallel connection. They also carried out the necessary calculations and compared the experimental results with theoretical values while analyzing the percentage error. These laboratory activities reflect the continuous efforts of the Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center to support applied education and enhance students’ practical skills in photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems, contributing to preparing qualified engineering graduates capable of keeping pace with developments in the field of renewable energy.
