Green Awareness on Campus: A Campaign Promoting Sustainability Among Students

As part of the fourth day of the Fourth International Sustainability Week, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research organized an awareness campaign on campus, during which educational brochures were distributed to university students. The campaign aimed to promote awareness of sustainability concepts and the importance of adopting renewable energy sources, by providing simplified information on the role of clean energy in protecting the environment and reducing harmful emissions. The brochures also introduced key renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, highlighting their positive impact on achieving sustainable development. The campaign witnessed notable engagement from students, reflecting their growing interest in environmental issues and their willingness to adopt eco-friendly behaviors. This initiative comes as part of the center’s ongoing efforts to spread environmental awareness and promote a culture of sustainability within the university community.

AlMustaqbal Energy Research Center Hosts Workshop on Renewable Energy Transition During the 4th International Sustainability Week

As part of the activities of the 4th International Sustainability Week, and within the fourth day’s program, Al_Mustaqbal Energy Research Center at Al_Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled: “Transition to Renewable Energy for Environmental Sustainability” The workshop was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with the attendance of a number of students and individuals interested in the fields of energy and sustainability. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of renewable energy and its vital role in achieving environmental sustainability, as well as to discuss the key challenges facing the transition to clean energy, and to review the latest strategies and technologies adopted in this field. The workshop included several scientific topics, including an introduction to renewable energy sources and their role in reducing carbon emissions, in addition to presenting practical applications and recent projects that support the transition toward clean energy. The workshop was delivered by: • Asst. Lecturer Zahraa Ibrahim Mahdi • Researcher Israa Mohammed Hassan The event witnessed notable engagement from the attendees through discussions and interventions that enriched both the scientific and practical aspects of the topic. From Waste to Power: Workshop Explores the Future of Lithium Battery Recycling

As part of the 4th International Sustainability Week activities, and within the fourth day’s program, the AlMustaqbal Energy Research Centre at AlMstaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled: “From Waste to Energy: The Future of Lithium Battery Recycling” The workshop was attended by a number of students, researchers, and individuals interested in the fields of energy and sustainability. It aimed to highlight the importance of recycling lithium batteries and its role in reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability, in addition to reviewing the latest technologies used in recycling processes and the challenges facing this vital sector. The workshop also covered several topics, including an introduction to lithium batteries and their widespread applications, the environmental risks associated with improper disposal, as well as the economic benefits of recycling and its role in supporting a sustainable energy economy. Scientific Knowledge Exchange: Pioneers of Biomedical Engineering Association Delivers Specialized Workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University

As part of the activities of the Fourth International Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week, and ضمن the third day’s program, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research at Al-Mustaqbal University, in collaboration with the Pioneers of Biomedical Engineering Association – Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop in the field of biomedical engineering. The workshop was held in the presence of the Director of the Center, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, and the Head of the Department of Medical Devices Engineering, Dr. Bayan Mahdi Sabbar, along with a distinguished group of students and individuals interested in medical and engineering fields. The workshop aimed to develop students’ skills and enhance their practical knowledge, contributing to preparing qualified graduates capable of meeting the demands of the healthcare sector. The session was delivered by Eng. Issam Ahmed, who highlighted the vital role of biomedical engineers within healthcare institutions, including operating, maintaining, and calibrating medical devices, as well as contributing to their development and design in line with the latest technological advancements. The workshop also included practical demonstrations of various medical devices, emphasizing the engineer’s role in improving performance efficiency and ensuring safety within hospital environments. In addition, it addressed ways to enhance both scientific and practical skills required for successful integration into the job market. The workshop witnessed active engagement from participants, effectively bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications, and highlighting the importance of biomedical engineering in supporting the healthcare sector. Advancing Solar Efficiency: A Scientific Workshop on Sustainable Thermal Energy Systems

As part of the second day of the Fourth International Sustainability Week at Al-Mustaqbal University, and within the program of workshops and activities organized by the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, a specialized scientific workshop was delivered by Lecturer Asmaa Mohammed Hameed from the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering. The center was honored by a visit from the President of Al_Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker majdy, who reviewed the displayed projects and praised the students' scientific and innovative level. A Scientific Workshop on Modern Irrigation Technologies and Solar Energy as Part of Sustainability Week

As part of the first day of the 4th International Sustainability Week at Al-Mustaqbal University, the Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center hosted a delegation from the Babil Agriculture Directorate for a distinguished scientific visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of sustainability. The visit included a scientific workshop presented by Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abad, Dean of the College of Engineering Technology, and Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, Director of the Center. The workshop addressed vital topics such as the use of modern irrigation technologies, solar energy systems in the agricultural sector, and smart irrigation applications. Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center Actively Participates in EURIE 2026 through Distinguished Representation by Its Director, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed

Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research Actively Participates in EURIE 2026 through Distinguished Representation by Its Director, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed Reflecting the growing international presence of Al-Mustaqbal University institutions, the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research actively participated ضمن the university’s delegation in the international exhibition held on the sidelines of the EURIE 2026 Summit in Istanbul, which witnessed wide participation from global universities and educational institutions. The center was represented by its Director, Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, who attended the opening of the university’s pavilion. The pavilion featured an overview of the center’s activities and achievements in the fields of energy research and sustainability, as well as its scientific projects contributing to the transition toward clean energy and the promotion of innovation in this vital sector. The university’s pavilion also received a high-level visit from the Turkish Minister of Higher Education and several heads of international university associations, who reviewed the advanced research efforts presented by the center and expressed their admiration for the university’s academic and scientific progress.
