AL-Mustaqbal University: An Active Partner in Establishing Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) in Iraq

As part of a strategic initiative aimed at fostering and supporting technological and social innovations through partnerships with national institutions and, subsequently, with international organizations, AL-Mustaqbal University—under the leadership of its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi—participated in the second meeting with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC). This meeting was held in response to COSQC’s initiative, inviting both AL-Mustaqbal University and the University of Baghdad to form a national partnership to achieve common goals in this field. The collaboration focuses on the establishment of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) at both AL-Mustaqbal University and the University of Baghdad. Additionally, AL-Mustaqbal University is actively engaging with COSQC in efforts to include Iraq in the Global Innovation Index (GII), with direct coordination and support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as COSQC represents Iraq in this global organization. Representing AL-Mustaqbal University at the meeting were Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of International and Local Cultural Relations. From the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President for Academic Affairs, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Professor Dr. Fayadh Mohammed Abdul, President of COSQC. The meeting also included a distinguished group of COSQC specialists involved in key topics such as Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) and the Global Innovation Index (GII). This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the collaboration between higher education institutions and government bodies, contributing to Iraq’s transition into a new phase of development and progress.

AL-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Tripartite Virtual Meeting to Discuss Preparations for the Second International Scientific Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies

AL-Mustaqbal University took part in a tripartite virtual meeting that brought together Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Future University; Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University; and Professor Dr. Kenan Ahmet Turkudan, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. The meeting focused on the final preparations for the Second International Scientific Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies, which is being organized by Northern Technical University in partnership with Future University and will be hosted by Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in late April. During the meeting, participants discussed key logistical arrangements and the final schedule for the conference. Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University reaffirmed its full readiness to provide all necessary resources to ensure the success of this significant scientific event, emphasizing the importance of seamless coordination among the three universities. In this context, both Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University for its outstanding cooperation and strong commitment to making the conference a success. Furthermore, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi highlighted the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding previously signed between Future University and Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. He also emphasized the need to strengthen academic partnerships among the three institutions. Additionally, he extended a formal invitation to both the President of Northern Technical University and the President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University to attend and participate in the First International Conference on Sustainable Educational Technology, which AL-Mustaqbal University will host from April 16–17 as part of the third edition of the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, scheduled to take place on campus in mid-April. This scientific collaboration between the three universities represents a significant step toward enhancing academic research and knowledge exchange in the fields of sustainable development and modern technology, contributing to the advancement of higher education and the promotion of scientific innovation.

AL-Mustaqbal University Continues Preparations for the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival

As part of its preparations for the third edition of the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, scheduled for mid-April 2025, AL-Mustaqbal University has been holding a series of meetings led by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. These meetings were attended by the Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, as well as the deans of the Medical Group colleges, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, the College of Sciences, and the College of Agricultural Technologies, along with their deputies, department heads, and faculty members involved in academic and scientific affairs. During the meetings, the attendees reviewed the ongoing preparations for the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, which will feature a range of scientific conferences, workshops, and forums. Some of these events have been previously approved by the university, while others are organized in partnership with local and international universities. Additionally, the festival will showcase student and faculty-led exhibitions and initiatives. In his remarks, the University President emphasized the importance of holding regular meetings for the preparatory, scientific, and supporting committees responsible for managing the festival’s activities. He stressed that scientific and cultural conferences and forums provide valuable opportunities for faculty members and researchers—both from within and outside the university—to exchange expertise, ideas, and insights, ultimately contributing to the enhancement and development of the university's academic performance. He also highlighted the crucial role of student participation in university events, noting that their involvement fosters creativity, excellence, and a stronger sense of loyalty and belonging to their educational institution. Furthermore, the University President underscored the importance of monitoring the progress of academic instruction and examinations, ensuring that the curriculum is fully covered to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in their respective fields of study. The meetings also included presentations on festival activities delivered by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision and relevant department heads. Additionally, updates were provided on the university’s scientific research progress, rankings, international collaborations, and sustainability initiatives.

To Strengthen Its Global Academic Standing, AL_Mustaqbal University Excels in the 1st International Sustainability Leaders Meeting (ISLM) 2025 As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its presence in international academic forums, AL_Mustaqbal University, represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, actively participated in the 1st International Sustainability Leaders Meeting (ISLM) 2025, organized by UI GreenMetric and hosted by Abu Dhabi University from February 26-27, 2025. Future University was the only Iraqi university present at this distinguished academic event. The university delegation included: 1. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul – Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies 2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Shaker Majdi – Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Department & Assistant Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies 3. Prof. Dr. Tareq Jawad Kazem – Director of the Scientific Affairs Department The conference gathered a distinguished group of experts and academics from prestigious global universities. AL_Mustaqbal University’s delegation engaged in in-depth scientific discussions on strategies to enhance the university’s academic reputation and strengthen its role in the international academic community. Discussions focused on increasing research output, establishing strategic partnerships, and actively participating in global scientific initiatives. The delegation also emphasized the development of academic programs aligned with modern research trends to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, the delegation attended specialized scientific lectures covering key topics such as global university ranking mechanisms, evaluation criteria for higher education institutions, and institutional performance enhancement. Success stories of top-ranking universities, such as the University of São Paulo, were analyzed, highlighting the strategies that contributed to their progress in international rankings. These insights provided a valuable roadmap for universities striving for global academic excellence. During panel discussions, AL_Mustaqbal University representatives emphasized the significance of knowledge exchange and international research collaboration. They highlighted the university’s achievements in scientific research and global rankings, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the quality of higher education in Iraq in alignment with its ambitious strategy for academic and research excellence. On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation visited several state-of-the-art laboratories and scientific departments at Abu Dhabi University to explore best practices and integrate them into AL_Mustaqbal University’s academic and research facilities. These efforts aim to strengthen the university’s position in global rankings, support community service initiatives, and foster international partnerships.

President of AL-Mustaqbal University Visits Istanbul Aydin University to Strengthen Academic Cooperation and International Partnerships.

Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, visited Istanbul Aydin University (IAU) as part of an initiative to enhance academic collaboration and establish fruitful international partnerships. During the visit, Professor Majdi met with Professor Dr. Mustafa Aydin, President of the Eurasia Organization (EURAS), Chairman of Istanbul Aydin University, and President of the Board of Trustees. Professor Majdi received a warm welcome from Professor Aydin, who presented him with a commemorative shield representing Istanbul Aydin University, expressing his admiration for AL-Mustaqbal University’s reputation and standing. He also commended the university’s active role following its selection as a Board Member of the Eurasia Universities Union (EURAS), an organization comprising 150 universities from various countries worldwide, highlighting Future University’s prestigious position and leadership in higher education. During the visit, the university president also met with several prominent academic officials at Istanbul Aydin University, including Professor Dr. Ibrahim Hakki Aydin, University President; Professor Dr. Zafer Arslan, Vice President; and Assistant Professor Dr. Osman Kul Tekin, Deputy Director of International Academic Relations, along with other key administrators. A joint meeting was held to discuss several topics of mutual interest, including the activation of the cooperation agreement between the two institutions and the organization of summer training programs for students of the College of Medical Technologies in Istanbul, particularly in the fields of optometry, radiology, and anesthesia. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the organization of a joint conference with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University focusing on medical technology, as well as encouraging student participation in the Erasmus international programs to enhance academic and cultural exchange opportunities. At the conclusion of the visit, Professor Majdi toured the Student Clubs Exhibition held in the university’s gardens, gaining insight into leading global experiences in this field. AL_Mustaqbal University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the British University in Cairo to Enhance Scientific and Academic Cooperation

As part of an initiative to strengthen international collaboration and exchange academic expertise, Iraq’s AL_Mustaqbal University and the British University in Cairo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance scientific and academic cooperation. This agreement aligns with the initiative to internationalize higher education in Iraq, previously announced by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In this context, the President of AL_Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, led an official delegation to the British University in Cairo. The high-level academic delegation included Professor Dr. Mundhir Fadel Hassan, Administrative Assistant to the University President; Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Dr. Walaa Louay Ali, Dean of the College of Medicine; Professor Abdulreda Shaker Majdi, Director of the University’s Administrative Affairs; and Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Abdul Rahman, Assistant Dean of the College of Dentistry. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two institutions to expand cooperation in scientific research, academic program development, and cultural exchange for faculty members and students. AL-Mustaqbal University Hosts Regional Director of QS Foundation in a Panel Discussion on Global Rankings

Under the generous patronage and blessed attendance of the President of AL-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdi, the university organized an important panel discussion on global rankings, during which it hosted the Regional Director of the QS Foundation for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, Professor Rami Awad. The President of the University stated in a statement to the university's media that this initiative is part of the university's strategic vision to enhance its position in the global QS rankings, which are among the most prominent academic rankings that rely on academic reputation, the learning and teaching environment, research impact, and internationalization. He also mentioned that global rankings have become a key indicator used by governments, companies, and various sectors to assess the performance of universities and academic institutions. The session included a presentation on how to improve the university's performance according to QS criteria, in addition to analyzing the strengths and opportunities available to achieve higher rankings in international classifications.
