As part of strengthening partnerships between the academic sector and civil society organizations, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, received a delegation from the Together for the Protection of Humans and the Environment Association, during which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to consolidate joint cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, human empowerment, and community service. The MoU was signed on behalf of Al-Mustaqbal University by Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, while it was signed on behalf of the Association by Dr. Saadia Faleh Hassoun, President of the Together for the Protection of Humans and the Environment Association. The signing ceremony was attended by Engineer Khalid Kazem Al-Salihi, Director of the Sustainability Division at the University Presidency. The MoU focuses on enhancing environmental awareness, integrating sustainability concepts into educational and community programs, engaging university students in training courses and exchange programs inside and outside Iraq, as well as cooperation in scientific research and the implementation of initiatives that support the Sustainable Development Goals. Both sides emphasized the importance of this partnership in unifying academic and community efforts, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and serving the local community.
In a new step that reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s leadership at both the national and international levels, the university has signed a joint scientific and technical cooperation memorandum with the Energy Conservation and Improvement in the Built Environment (ECIBE) organization, a specialized non-governmental entity registered with the NGO Department of the Council of Ministers Presidency in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This partnership aligns with the university’s vision—championed by its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi—to build strategic relationships that effectively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the energy sector, which is a vital pillar for the continuity of economic and social systems. The significance of this step is further reinforced by Al-Mustaqbal University’s outstanding global achievement of ranking first worldwide in SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) according to the 2025 Times Higher Education Sustainability Rankings. The memorandum aims to strengthen research cooperation, exchange technical expertise, and develop innovative solutions to reduce energy consumption and enhance efficiency within the built environment—whether in existing buildings or in future urban planning and design processes. The partnership is also expected to unite the efforts of multiple academic disciplines, including civil, architectural, and electrical engineering, in addition to design, urban planning, and other fields that support sustainable development and community well-being. The agreement was signed on behalf of Al-Mustaqbal University by Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and on behalf of ECIBE by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jru Ali Hama Raza, Director of the organization. The signing ceremony, held in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was attended by Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Al-Moussawi, Director of Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of Cultural Relations at the university.
As part of its vision to expand academic partnerships and enhance its presence on influential international platforms, Al-Mustaqbal University participated in the thirteenth and final virtual meeting for 2025 of the Board of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS). The meeting witnessed broad participation from presidents of newly admitted member universities, alongside the main board members, including the University President, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, representing Al-Mustaqbal University on the Board. The university was represented in the meeting by Professor Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, accompanied by several staff members from the university presidency. This participation reflects the university’s ongoing engagement with the union’s activities and strategic initiatives. The meeting reviewed the achievements of 2025, including conferences, meetings, workshops, and scientific forums—both in-person and virtual. Among these was the EURIE Eurasia Higher Education Summit, held in Istanbul last April, in which the university actively participated. Attendees also discussed reports from the subcommittees and specialized platforms, most notably the NextGen Students platform, in which the university is proudly represented at the international level. At the conclusion of the session, EURAS President Professor Mustafa Aydın praised Al-Mustaqbal University for its active contributions to the union’s activities, commending its initiative and readiness to host the Eurasia Academy Forum, scheduled for late January 2026 in Iraq—an important event previously hosted by member countries such as Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Iran. In his closing remarks on behalf of the participating universities, Professor Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy expressed the university’s pride in organizing this significant international event and extended an open invitation to all participants to visit Al-Mustaqbal University and take part in the upcoming forum’s activities.
In line with the directives of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Hassan Shakir Majdy, to strengthen cooperation with reputable national and regional universities, an official delegation from the university visited Tishk International University – Sulaimani to explore opportunities for academic partnership and to develop joint cooperation programs. The delegation was headed by Prof. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and included Prof. Tariq Jawad Kazem, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, and Dr. Sameer Badrawi, Director of the Cultural Relations Department. The delegation was received by Prof. Khidir Masoum, President of Tishk International University, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of building effective bridges of cooperation between the two institutions. During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues of collaboration in scientific research, academic exchange, training programs, and the organization of joint scientific conferences, in addition to reviewing initiatives related to quality assurance, international rankings, and student activities. At the conclusion of the visit, the two universities signed a Scientific and Cultural Memorandum of Understanding, aimed at establishing an institutional framework for long-term cooperation and developing joint academic projects, thereby strengthening their presence within the national and regional educational landscape. This step reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to implementing its strategic vision centered on academic openness and the development of effective partnerships that enhance the quality of education and scientific research.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al-Zuhairy presented an overview of the journey of Al-Mustaqbal University and its recent achievements, reaffirming the university’s commitment to building effective partnerships, especially given the presence of parallel faculties and academic programs in both institutions that can serve as a foundation for joint scientific and research initiatives. For his part, the President of the University of Sulaimani welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the distinguished academic reputation that Al-Mustaqbal University has earned locally and internationally, particularly after securing advanced positions in several recognized global rankings. He also expressed the university’s readiness to sign a scientific and cultural cooperation agreement in the near future, contributing to the exchange of expertise and the development of academic programs. It is worth noting that the University of Sulaimani is one of Iraq’s well-established universities, founded in 1968, and currently comprises more than twenty colleges offering diverse academic programs across various scientific and humanities disciplines.

These included opportunities for conducting joint research projects, organizing scientific conferences and training workshops, exploring faculty and student exchange programs, and advancing academic capacity-building. The discussions also covered potential collaboration in university rankings, quality assurance, and the development of joint student activities, all contributing to an enhanced academic environment. At the conclusion of the visit, both universities signed a scientific and cultural Memorandum of Understanding, reflecting their shared commitment and establishing a practical framework for expanding cooperation in the coming period—further strengthening the position of both institutions within the national and regional academic landscape.
As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its partnerships with the industrial sector, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and Mr. Taylan Toler, General Manager of Al-Mutahida Company for Packaging, Granule Manufacturing, and Processing, signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing scientific and technical collaboration between both sides and opening new avenues for training, development, and capacity building. The agreement includes on-site training programs for Al-Mustaqbal University students within the company across several engineering specializations, as well as the potential provision of job opportunities for outstanding graduates. It also encompasses conducting joint research in the company’s laboratories and facilities, in addition to offering specialized training programs delivered by the university for the company’s staff in administrative, accounting, and legal fields. The agreement was signed during an official visit by a high-level delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University headed by Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi to the company’s headquarters. The visit began with an extensive meeting between both parties, during which the University President emphasized the importance of engaging with the industrial sector as a key partner in supporting applied programs and enhancing students’ practical skills. He also reviewed the university’s recent achievements at both the local and international levels, noting that the university places educational quality and strong learning outcomes at the forefront of its priorities—reflected in the excellent results achieved by its students in the ministerial assessment exams. For their part, officials at Al-Mutahida Company welcomed the university delegation and expressed their full readiness to build a strategic partnership with Al-Mustaqbal University, which has earned a distinguished reputation and strong academic standing. The meeting included a video presentation introducing Al-Mustaqbal University, followed by a company presentation outlining its industrial activities and areas of operation. At the end of the visit, the university delegation conducted a field tour of the company’s production lines, laboratories, and technical workshops to explore available capabilities and future opportunities for applied cooperation. The delegation, headed by Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, included Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision , Asst. Professor Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi, Dean of the College of Engineering , and Asst. Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies as well as a number of faculty members and department directors associated with the areas of joint cooperation.
