Measurement and evaluation at the College of Dentistry represent a cornerstone in ensuring the quality of educational outcomes. They are not limited to assessing theoretical knowledge alone but extend to evaluating fine clinical skills and sound clinical decision-making. The ultimate goal of our assessment process is to graduate dentists who possess strong scientific competence, refined manual skills, and professional ethics that qualify them to deal with human health safely and accurately. The College adopts an integrated assessment system that aligns with the medical and technical nature of the specialty. Academic achievement is measured through a combination of essay examinations and multiple-choice questions (MCQs), designed to assess higher-order thinking skills and the ability to make rapid and accurate diagnoses. For fourth- and fifth-year students, greater emphasis is placed on the quality of technical work and adherence to treatment protocols. Special attention is also given to communication skills and patient interaction. Student performance is evaluated according to professional standards that include sterilization procedures, precision in clinical work, and the humanistic aspect of patient care. Developmental Initiatives and Activities In line with the principle of removing obstacles for our students, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit organized a series of specialized training workshops on the “Mechanism of Answering the Bubble Sheet.” These workshops aimed to familiarize students with electronic marking systems to ensure result accuracy and minimize non-academic errors during examinations. The first semester witnessed intensive examination activities, and preliminary statistical indicators revealed the following results: The pass rates in core and clinical subjects were 83% for the second year, 92.1% for the third year, 82.2% for the fourth year, and 90.5% for the fifth year, reflecting an excellent student response to the academic curricula. The Unit also recorded a high level of compliance with examination regulations, along with a noticeable improvement in the speed of announcing results, thanks to the adoption of electronic correction and auditing technologies. The College of Dentistry continues to update its assessment tools in line with international standards, with ongoing focus on developing students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure the graduation of cohorts that uphold the distinguished reputation of our College.
