Stemming from its vision of preparing competent nursing staff capable of meeting the demands of the healthcare sector. Within this framework, the College plays a pivotal role in implementing modern assessment and evaluation systems, particularly with regard to practical examinations conducted in its laboratories. Practical nursing courses represent the cornerstone of students’ skill development. Education is not limited to the theoretical aspect; rather, it extends to clinical training and laboratory simulation, enabling students to master fundamental skills before transitioning to the real clinical environment. Accordingly, the Assessment and Evaluation Unit at the College develops precise and systematic mechanisms to evaluate practical performance, ensuring fairness, objectivity, and the achievement of intended learning outcomes. The College adopts the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) approach and direct skill-based assessments within laboratories for practical course examinations. Students are evaluated using standardized checklists that have been carefully designed to cover all steps of nursing performance, beginning with the preparation and sterilization of equipment, progressing through therapeutic communication with the simulated patient, and concluding with the proper implementation of nursing procedures according to approved scientific standards. These examinations include essential skills such as measuring vital signs, administering injections, wound care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and infection control procedures. Assessment is conducted under the supervision of specialized examination committees composed of nursing faculty members to ensure integrity, transparency, and the standardization of grading criteria among all students. Furthermore, the Assessment and Evaluation Unit reviews and analyzes the results of practical examinations after each examination cycle to identify strengths and reinforce them, while addressing areas of weakness through continuous developmental and training plans. Regular meetings are held to discuss performance indicators and to ensure that assessment methods align with national academic standards and accreditation requirements. The implementation of this integrated assessment and evaluation system reflects the College of Nursing – Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to graduating nurses who possess strong scientific knowledge and high practical competence, thereby contributing to the advancement of healthcare services and serving the community at the highest level.
