During 2025, the University of Al-Mustaqbal continued to consolidate its position as one of the leading universities at both the national and international levels, achieving a series of outstanding accomplishments in global rankings, academic accreditation, scientific research, and sustainability. These achievements reflect the university’s ambitious vision and strong commitment to quality and excellence At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, the university was honored with the First Distinguished University Award for the years 2022 and 2023 during the Science Day ceremony held on 30 December 2024, presented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reaffirming its sustained academic superiority In addition, the University of Al-Mustaqbal achieved first place in the Iraqi National University Ranking for 2024, issued by the Department of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, with seven of its academic departments ranked first among both public and private universities—an unprecedented achievement that highlights the strength of its academic programs In terms of academic accreditation, the university obtained full institutional accreditation, meaning that all of its academic programs are officially accredited. Moreover, the College of Pharmacy received programmatic accreditation, while efforts continue to obtain American accreditation Within the framework of international academic cooperation, the university received official approvals to establish international postgraduate programs in partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in addition to launching a Master’s program in Law in collaboration with Mansoura University in the Arab Republic of Egypt In the field of sustainability, the university achieved a historic milestone by ranking first globally in Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG-7), which focuses on ensuring access to affordable and clean energy for all. This achievement makes it the first Iraqi and Arab university to attain this position according to the British Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The university also ranked first in Iraq in the Sustainable Development Goals ranking, within the 201–300 global band, marking another first for an Iraqi university. Across other global rankings, the University of Al-Mustaqbal achieved the following distinctions First place in Iraq in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, issued by Times Higher Education (UK) in cooperation with the Schmidt Foundation (Germany) First place among private universities and colleges in the Webometrics Ranking (Spain) First place in Iraq among public and private universities in the US News Best Global Universities Rankings 2025 Ranked within the 101–125 Arab universities band and third in Iraq in the Arab University Rankings issued by Times Higher Education Second place in Iraq and first among private universities in the QS Sustainability Rankings Third place in Iraq and first among private universities in the Green Metric World University Ranking, issued by Indonesia First among private universities and fifth nationally in the Arab University Ranking issued by the Association of Arab Universities In the field of scientific research, the university received three First Excellence Awards during the Iraqi Science Day, presented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and evaluated by Clarivate, as follows First Distinguished University Award in Engineering and Technological Sciences First Distinguished University Award in Medical and Health Sciences First Distinguished University Award in Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences Furthermore, the university was awarded the First Distinguished Private University Award for 2025 during the Science Day celebrations, reaffirming its leadership among private higher education institutions These achievements were crowned by the university’s membership in the International Association of Universities (IAU), affiliated with UNESCO and headquartered in Paris, further strengthening its international academic presence and expanding opportunities for global collaboration Through these successive accomplishments, the University of Al-Mustaqbal reaffirms its status as a leading educational institution, steadily advancing toward global recognition while continuing to play a pivotal role in the development of higher education and scientific research in Iraq and the region
Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic milestone by securing first place among private universities in Iraq and fifth place nationally out of 63 Iraqi universities, according to the Arab Universities Union (ARU) ranking The university also attained 62nd place at the Arab level among the universities included in the ranking, clearly reflecting its advanced standing and active presence at both the regional and international levels This achievement reflects the continuous efforts exerted by Al-Mustaqbal University in developing the educational process, strengthening scientific research, and enhancing the quality of academic programs, in addition to its commitment to the standards adopted in reputable university rankings The university affirms that this progress is the result of the integrated efforts of its leadership, academic and administrative staff, and students, and it reinforces its ambition to continue its journey toward greater excellence and academic leadership locally and across the Arab world
Al-Mustaqbal University has announced that Professor Jabbar Faraj from the College of Pharmacy has achieved a remarkable scientific accomplishment on the global stage, following his success in developing a new pharmaceutical formulation of Fulvestrant inj in collaboration with a company during his work in the United States This development represents a significant step forward in the pharmaceutical industry, as the new formulation has contributed to enhancing the drug’s efficiency and making it easier for physicians, pharmacists, and patients to use. Among its key features are the ability to store it at room temperature, the reduction of most potential side effects such as hair loss and nausea, as well as the option of administering it once a month via intramuscular injection, making it more convenient and acceptable for patients The drug has been officially registered in the United States as a developed formulation and received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2025. It has also been listed under U.S. patents with the title FULVESTRANT FORMULATIONS Al-Mustaqbal University praised this significant achievement, which reflects the scientific standing of its faculty and their ability to contribute to innovation and research at the international level. In line with its commitment to strengthening its scientific role both regionally and internationally, Al-Mustaqbal University made a distinguished appearance at the 11th International Conference of the Arab Association for Scientific Research and Communication Sciences, held at the Faculty of Media at the Lebanese University, with the participation of a select group of Arab and international researchers. The opening day of the conference witnessed the official participation of Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, along with Professor Dr. Akram Faraj Al-Rubayi, Head of the Media Department. The conference participants warmly welcomed the university’s delegation in appreciation of their active engagement in this prominent academic event Dr. Akram Al-Rubayi presented a new research study titled: “Artificial Intelligence Challenges to the Human Mind in Engineering the Guidance of Media and Communication Users – Communication in Scientific Activity as a Model.” The study highlighted the cognitive and technological shifts imposed by artificial intelligence on the media sector and its role in reshaping contemporary communication behavior Reflecting the university’s commitment to building strong academic partnerships, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University honored several distinguished figures from the Lebanese University and the Arab Association for Scientific Research and Communication Sciences by presenting commemorative shields to the President of the Lebanese University, the Dean of the Faculty of Media, the Director of Branch One, and the Association’s President, Dr. Mai Al-Abdullah The conference witnessed notable participation from French and Arab researchers and included multiple scientific sessions broadcast on Lebanese television, helping to broaden the reach of scientific knowledge and research outcomes Al-Mustaqbal Universitys participation in this event reaffirms its dedication to supporting academic advancement and contributing research initiatives that help develop the Arab media sector and address the challenges of the future
Al-Mustaqbal University has announced a new achievement in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. The University’s President, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, confirmed that the university has continued its excellence for the sixth consecutive year, maintaining its position as the top private university in Iraq, in addition to securing third place nationally among 87 Iraqi educational institutions participating in the ranking The president explained that this national success was accompanied by remarkable global progress, as the university ranked 166 out of 1,745 universities included in this year’s edition—despite the significant increase of more than 300 additional participating universities compared to last year He also highlighted the university’s outstanding performance in sustainability indicators, where it achieved first place in Iraq in both the Water Resources category and the Education & Research (ED) category. This accomplishment reflects the university’s success in promoting sustainable practices and integrating them into its academic programs and institutional strategies In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi extended his congratulations to all faculty members, staff, and students, emphasizing that this achievement is the result of collective effort and a clear vision. He also highlighted the university’s first-place ranking in Iraq within the Times Interdisciplinary Science Ranking (ISR 2026), in addition to securing third place in Iraq and entering the 101–125 category among Arab universities in the Times Arab Universities Ranking He explained that this progress stems from a strategic vision focused on supporting high-impact research, enhancing governance, and aligning scientific efforts with community needs and the goals of sustainable development For his part, the Governor of Babylon expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the university, describing the progress achieved as “a qualitative leap for the governorate and for higher education in Iraq.” The Chairman of the Provincial Council also praised the university’s vital role in supplying society with skilled graduates and innovative initiatives Meanwhile, the President of the Scientific Research Authority emphasized that Al-Mustaqbal University represents a national model for strengthening the connection between scientific research and the industrial sector, and for supporting the knowledge-based economy The ceremony also included an awards segment in which commemorative shields were presented to distinguished guests. The President of the University was honored with the Excellence Shield from the Scientific Research Authority in recognition of his efforts in developing the university’s research and institutional trajectory. A number of professors, researchers, and administrative and scientific staff were also recognized for their contributions to these notable achievements At the conclusion of the ceremony, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its path of excellence and innovation, strengthening its role in building a knowledge-based society, and contributing effectively to achieving sustainable development and serving Iraq
The Psychological Research Center of the Scientific Research Authority received a high-level delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, which included Prof. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Prof. Tareq Jawad Al-Moussawi, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; and Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of the Cultural Relations Department Accompanying the delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University was a team from the Scientific Research Authority, consisting of Dr. Mohammed Khumaas, Director of the Center for Industrial Applications and Materials Technology Research; Dr. Engineer Maher Mahmoud from the Office of the President of the Authority for Scientific Affairs; and Dr. Engineer Ali Qader Baki, Chairman of the Cooperation Agreements Committee with Private Universities The delegation was welcomed by the officials of the Center, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Fadhala Al-Tamimi, Deputy General Director for Administrative Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Mais Mohammed Kazem, Deputy General Director for Scientific Affairs; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Israa Abdul-Ridha, Director of the Administrative and Financial Department During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for scientific cooperation and ways to strengthen partnerships in the fields of research, development, and joint projects. They also reviewed the scientific and research capabilities that could be utilized to support the academic process and enrich the exchange of expertise between the two institutions The visit concluded with a shared affirmation of the importance of maintaining communication and activating cooperation, in a manner that enhances joint scientific work and supports the achievement of research and developmental objectives for both parties
