As part of its continuous efforts toward global engagement, AL-Mustaqbal University took part in the 10th Annual Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2025), held in Istanbul from April 8 to 10, 2025. The university was represented by a high-level delegation led by Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, University President, along with Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Samir Ibrahim, Director of International Relations. The summit officially opened at Istanbul’s main conference hall, with wide participation from both governmental and academic sectors. The opening remarks were delivered by the Turkish Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Economy, alongside prominent international figures, including representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan. Distinguished attendees also included the Executive Director of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the Director of the British Council, and presidents and representatives of academic institutions from around the world. AL-Mustaqbal University’s booth, featured as part of the academic exhibition held alongside the summit, attracted significant interest and engagement from academic delegations and visitors—particularly from Malaysian, Romanian, and Turkish universities. The exhibition was honored by official visits from the Turkish Minister of Economy, the Malaysian Minister of Education, and Professor Mustafa Aydin, President of Istanbul Aydın University, all of whom commended the university’s efforts in enhancing its academic programs and expanding its global presence. In a statement to the university’s media office, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi noted that the university’s delegation held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit with representatives of universities and academic institutions from several countries. These meetings aimed to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and to sign memoranda of understanding concerning student exchange programs, joint curriculum development, and the expansion of partnerships in scientific research and innovation. He further emphasized that the university’s participation aligns with its strategic vision to strengthen international academic relations and engage with advanced educational systems—reflecting its commitment to excellence and leadership both regionally and globally.

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to build partnerships with reputable international universities and in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to internationalize higher education in Iraq, a joint virtual meeting was held between Al-Mustaqbal University and Universidad Europea de Madrid to activate scientific and academic collaboration between the two institutions. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and extending his gratitude and appreciation to the Spanish side and the staff of the Iraqi Embassy in Madrid for making the meeting possible. He also highlighted the importance of this meeting as the first of its kind between the two universities, which could serve as a promising start for building a long-term strategic partnership in scientific and academic fields of mutual interest. He pointed out that the areas of cooperation could include joint scientific research, organizing conferences and workshops, capacity building, and exchanging expertise in the field of sustainable development, as well as benefiting from the Spanish experience in implementing the Bologna Process, which has recently been adopted by Iraqi universities. For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, emphasized in his speech the many commonalities between the two universities, particularly regarding the available academic programs and their shared vision in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through adopting various innovative initiatives. He also highlighted the focus on scientific research and publishing in high-impact journals, in addition to other shared areas such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy. All these factors create a solid foundation for fruitful collaboration that serves the interests of both sides. Dr. Al-Zuhairy also noted that Al-Mustaqbal University has now become the leading private university in Iraq, based on its achievements in both national and international rankings, and its distinction as the first private university in Iraq to receive national institutional accreditation. The meeting included a presentation by Prof. Dr. Tareq Jawad, Director of Scientific Affairs, who showcased the university’s key performance indicators and academic statistics. A similar presentation was given by the Spanish side. It is worth mentioning that the Spanish side expressed its full readiness to open avenues of cooperation with Al-Mustaqbal University, and both sides agreed to designate contact points to determine the next steps for implementing the collaboration in accordance with the legal frameworks in both countries.

HETL spans six continents and includes members from over 160 countries, making it one of the most prominent international organizations in the field of higher education. HETL aims to foster communication and collaboration among academic institutions across various disciplines while supporting academic research and innovation in higher education practices. Through this membership, AL-Mustaqbal University’s academic staff will have access to exceptional opportunities to advance their careers, including participation in global research projects, publication in prestigious academic journals, and membership in international research award judging panels. Moreover, HETL is committed to enhancing the quality of higher education worldwide by providing a platform for researchers to connect, supporting academic innovation, and contributing to the development of sustainable teaching and learning strategies. AL_Mustaqbal University (UOMUS) has achieved a significant milestone in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2025, securing the 1676th position globally, marking a 639-rank improvement compared to last year. At the national level, AL_Mustaqbal University ranked first among private universities and colleges in Iraq and fourth overall, following Baghdad University, the University of Technology, and Salahaddin University. This remarkable achievement underscores the university’s excellence in academic and research performance. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the regular virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of Istanbul Aydın University and Chairman of EURAS. The meeting was attended by distinguished board members, including university presidents and representatives from member institutions, via a closed-circuit television system. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the meeting, having been appointed as a board member during the Union’s annual conference in October 2024, held in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting addressed several key topics, including prospects for collaboration among member universities, as well as discussions on specialized committees and platforms related to research, sustainability, partnerships, and international students. Additionally, the board reviewed the resolutions from the first meeting of the year, held in February, and praised Al-Mustaqbal University’s swift response in implementing these resolutions. The meeting also emphasized the importance of participating in the EURIE 25 Annual Summit, a flagship event for universities within the Union, scheduled to take place in Istanbul from April 9–10, 2025. During his remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his appreciation to the Union’s leadership, highlighting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to being an active member through its participation in EURAS initiatives. He affirmed the university’s dedication to launching impactful initiatives that align with the Union’s vision for internationalizing education among member states. Furthermore, he announced plans to propose a series of workshops and scientific forums addressing global and regional challenges, particularly in the fields of energy, climate change, and artificial intelligence. He also emphasized the importance of coordinating with the Union’s administration to host leading academics and experts in these domains. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Majdi noted that Al-Mustaqbal University students’ recent participation in the Union’s international student platform had left a positive impression, fostering cultural exchange, idea-sharing, and exposure to success stories among students from different backgrounds. In response to Prof. Dr. Majdi’s speech, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of EURAS, expressed his deep appreciation for Al-Mustaqbal University’s pivotal role within the Union. He also referred to his recent meeting with Prof. Dr. Majdi, acknowledging the university’s active and influential contributions to EURAS. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Prof. Dr. Tarek Jawad, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; and Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of International Relations at the university’s administration.
As part of its ongoing efforts to establish partnerships with prestigious international universities and in alignment with the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s initiative to internationalize higher education, AL-Mustaqbal University held a virtual meeting with Mansoura University in Egypt to activate and expand scientific and academic collaboration. At the outset of the meeting, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, emphasized the significance of this discussion, which follows his recent visit to Mansoura University and the signing of a joint scientific cooperation protocol between the two institutions. He highlighted the meeting’s role in defining priorities and areas of mutual interest, particularly in scientific research, capacity building, curriculum development, and academic exchange, all of which contribute to strengthening the quality of educational outcomes. From Mansoura University, Professor Dr. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing communication between the two institutions, whether through exchange visits or continuous meetings. He noted that this reflects the strong willingness and commitment of both sides to cooperate and reach agreements on various academic initiatives, while taking into account the available resources and the legal frameworks governing higher education in both countries. He further affirmed that Mansoura University is fully open to fostering collaboration and providing all necessary support to serve the interests of both universities. The meeting was attended by several senior officials from AL-Mustaqbal University, including Professor Dr. Mundhir Fadel Hassan, Administrative Assistant to the University President; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; along with deans and department heads from the university administration. On the Mansoura University side, Professor Dr. Tarek Ghalwash was joined by vice presidents, deans, and directors of various academic centers and departments. The session concluded with an agreement to maintain direct communication between corresponding college deans from both universities to further discuss the agenda points raised during the meeting. These discussions will continue in subsequent meetings to finalize decisions and implement collaborative initiatives.
