A field activity titled “Safe Horizons: Training on Enhancing the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Oversight in Healthcare Facilities.”

In implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for the year 2025, and within the second clause emphasizing the importance of choosing academic specialties suitable for women and aligned with labor market requirements, the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Women’s Affairs Committee in the Biomedical Engineering Department, organized a field activity at Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital titled: “Safe Horizons: Training on Enhancing the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Oversight in Healthcare Facilities.” The activity included a specialized scientific tour during which the students were introduced to the methods used to monitor the movement of medical materials and supplies inside the hospital, mechanisms of storage organization, expenditure control, and handling of high-sensitivity equipment. The aim was to promote a culture of safety and ensure continuity of healthcare services without interruption. The training also addressed the role of the biomedical engineer in supporting healthcare management systems by understanding the needs of medical departments, analyzing operational data, and contributing to improving resource management efficiency and reducing waste. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of women’s involvement in these technical specialties that combine engineering and administrative aspects, offering wide employment opportunities within healthcare institutions. This activity comes as part of the department’s efforts to enhance students’ skills and provide them with field experience that enables them to make informed career decisions and build capacities aligned with the demands of the modern healthcare labor market. Awareness Campaign titled “Violence Against Women”

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, organized an awareness campaign titled “Violence Against Women” on 24/11/2025, in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The campaign aims to promote a culture that rejects all forms of violence, enhance awareness of the woman’s role in society, and highlight the importance of providing a safe environment that protects her rights and preserves her dignity. This initiative also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event was presented by Assistant Lecturer Dhi Salam Hamza, Ms. Rayahin Abdul-Nasser, and Assistant Lecturer Taybah Faisal Jabir, who discussed the various forms of violence, its psychological and social effects, as well as methods of prevention and mechanisms of community and institutional support. Through such activities, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to continuing its humanitarian and awareness-raising role and to promoting a culture of women’s rights within and beyond the university community.

Awareness Campaign titled: “Raising Rural Women’s Awareness on the Importance of Using Calcium and Phosphorus in Livestock Nutrition”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Technologies and the Babylon Agriculture Directorate, organized an awareness campaign for rural women in the Abi Gharaq area titled: “Raising Rural Women’s Awareness on the Importance of Using Calcium and Phosphorus in Livestock Nutrition.” The campaign was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, and was presented by Lecturer Assistant Surur Hafidh Mohammed Al-Fatlawi, Head of the Unit, on Thursday, 20/11/2025. During the campaign, explanatory posters were distributed to highlight the importance of these nutrients within the second axis of “Economic Development for Iraqi Women,” which emphasizes the need to engage women in vital sectors that support community development. This axis was reinforced to showcase the essential role of rural women in empowering their communities by improving livestock health and increasing productivity. The campaign focused on the role of calcium and phosphorus in bone development, and increasing milk and meat production, in addition to explaining the ideal ratio (2:1) to prevent diseases such as rickets, osteoporosis, and reduced fertility. Practical recommendations were also provided to rural women on incorporating natural sources such as limestone and dried eggshells as sources of calcium, and wheat bran or phosphate supplements as sources of phosphorus, emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring of livestock health. The campaign also aimed to empower rural women as key partners in sustainable development, as their awareness and proper management of livestock nutrition represent a direct investment in herd health and increased production, positively impacting the rural family and the local economy.

Awareness Campaign titled: “Behavioral Chemistry and the Risks of Addiction on Women”

As part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week 2025, and in compliance with the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar (Protection and Prevention) 2025, specifically the fifth axis concerning negative phenomena that women may face, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs representatives in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Oil Industries, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, carried out an extensive awareness campaign on the risks of addiction on women. The campaign relied on the distribution of educational brochures in Hammurabi City. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among women about the health, behavioral, and social impacts of addiction, and to highlight the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of prevention and support for women, thereby fostering a safe, risk-free university environment. The awareness brochures included specialized topics such as: • The concept of addiction and its most common types among women and youth. • Chemical and behavioral effects of drug abuse on women. • Early prevention strategies. • The role of women in strengthening community awareness and reducing risks. • Emergency numbers and psychological and counseling support services dedicated to women. An awareness exhibition held as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities, titled: “Moments of Awareness… For a Drug-Free Generation.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division organized an awareness exhibition on 19/11/2025 as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities, titled: “Moments of Awareness… For a Drug-Free Generation.” The exhibition witnessed the attendance of several faculty members and students. It included a collection of brochures and educational posters highlighting the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on individuals and society. It also featured awareness presentations aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and encouraging students to adopt a healthy lifestyle free from harmful behaviors. This activity comes within Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to spreading community awareness and supporting national efforts to curb the spread of drugs, reinforcing the role of educational institutions in protecting and guiding young people intellectually and behaviorally

An educational awareness campaign titled “The Role of Women in Reducing Drug Abuse.”

On the occasion of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, under the supervision of Prof. Sahira Qahtan Abduljabbar, organized an educational awareness campaign titled “The Role of Women in Reducing Drug Abuse.” This campaign was held in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Fine Arts, and with the follow-up of Lecturer Suhaila Kazem Jasem. The campaign aimed to strengthen the role and influence of women—as members representing half of society—in limiting the spread of drugs within their families, by monitoring and guiding their children and raising their awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The role of women is not limited to the household; it also extends to the school as educators of future generations, and to the wider community as active participants in civil society institutions. A number of faculty members and students took part in this campaign on 17 November 2025, in alignment with the protection and prevention pillar of the current year’s National Strategic Plan for Iraqi Women.

An awareness campaign entitled "Early Detection of Cancer: The Fastest Way to Recovery"

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, under the supervision of Prof. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, and the follow-up of Ms. Amal Abbas Obeid, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, organized an awareness campaign titled “Early Cancer Detection: The Fastest Path to Recovery.” The campaign was held by the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies on Wednesday, October 30, 2025, as part of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar of Participation and Institutional Reform (Third Axis). It was carried out by the lecturers Ms. Alaa Hussein Abdul Amir, Ms. Haneen Fadel Kazem, and Ms. Kawther Hussein Shalan. The campaign emphasized the importance of community cooperation across all institutions to encourage women’s participation in the modern technology sector and to support and empower them. It also highlighted the need to continue organizing awareness campaigns and to develop effective policies that ensure women’s protection and a safe, fair environment for them

Workshop titled: “The Role of Iraqi Women in the Electoral Process

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Technologies, organized a workshop titled “The Role of Iraqi Women in the Electoral Process.” The event supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan and presented by Asst. Lecturer Sorour Hafez Mohammed on 8/11/2025, the workshop was attended by university students and staff. It highlighted the essential role of women in society and their contribution to sustainable development, emphasizing that economic, social, and political empowerment is vital for advancing communities. The workshop underscored the importance of supporting women’s affairs departments to enhance equality and justice, and stressed the need for legal frameworks that protect women’s rights and ensure their active participation. It also discussed challenges such as cultural barriers and limited leadership representation, while showcasing national and international initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s leadership and professional skills. In conclusion, the workshop called for adopting clear policies that integrate women into development sectors, updating legislation that safeguards their rights, and promoting education and vocational training to achieve equality and build a more balanced and inclusive society.
