An awareness workshop entitled: “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, presented an awareness workshop entitled “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Widad Hamza Shakir, and she addressed the incorrect habits practiced by some women in attempting to treat newborn children through traditional methods or herbs that may harm the child’s health. The doctor recommended spreading the culture of seeking treatment through hospitals and specialized doctors in order to preserve children’s lives. The workshop was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Kadhim Jaloub Hassan and Lecturer Saba Sabah Tayah, as well as a number of students from the College of Medicine. Also present was Lecturer Mary Imran Al-Taie, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University. The workshop was held on Tuesday, 3/2/2026, and it came within the Protection Pillar for developing women’s self-protection skills. It was also within Goal Three (Good Health and Well-Being) of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Seminar entitled “Digital Violence Against Women”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities / Department of Media, held a seminar entitled “Digital Violence Against Women” on Monday, 2/2/2026. It was presented by Assistant Lecturers Mays Mohammed Qasim, Sarah Hakem, and Sura Qasim. The seminar aims to raise community awareness about the dangers of electronic violations that women face through social media and digital platforms. It also seeks to introduce participants to the forms of digital violence such as cyber extortion, defamation, harassment, and violation of privacy. It further aims to clarify the psychological, social, and legal impacts resulting from this type of violence. It also works to explain the legal methods, protection measures, and ways to report cybercrimes. Finally, it seeks to promote a culture of safe technology use and to build a safer and more respectful digital environment for women. This comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5: Gender Equality). Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in the classifications.

A Scientific Workshop Entitled “Developing the Academic and Professional Skills of Women”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and with the participation of the Dean of the College of Science, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Department of Forensic Evidence in the College of Science, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Developing the Academic and Professional Skills of Women.” The workshop was held on Wednesday, 21/1/2026, in the Student Activities Hall – Old Medical Building – Ground Floor, at 10:00 a.m., with the attendance of a number of teaching staff and students. The workshop aims to enhance women’s academic and professional capacities and empower them to develop their scientific and practical skills, contributing to supporting their active role in society and the labor market, and achieving sustainable development. The workshop included valuable scientific lectures delivered by: Mrs. Huwayda Nazzal Hussein Mrs. Waqar Janat Jasim This activity comes in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: Goal 4: Quality Education through supporting continuing education and building academic capacities. Goal 5: Gender Equality through empowering women and enhancing their participation. Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through developing professional skills and preparing women for the labor market. The Department of Forensic Evidence affirms its keenness to hold scientific and awareness activities that contribute to supporting and empowering women and enhancing their role in academic and professional development.

An awareness workshop dedicated to women entitled “Rationalizing Water Consumption, with the aim of enhancing environmental awareness and consolidating a culture of water sustainability.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit in the Department of Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University and the Women’s Affairs Committees in Biomedical Engineering, organized an awareness workshop dedicated to women entitled “Rationalizing Water Consumption, with the aim of enhancing environmental awareness and consolidating a culture of water sustainability” on 20/1/2026, in implementation of the contents of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar – Paragraph (8). The workshop shed light on the pivotal role of women in leading positive environmental behaviors within the family and society, as an effective element in protecting natural resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations, emphasizing that individual awareness constitutes the basis for any sustainable societal change. The workshop included several themes, namely introducing the concept of rationalizing water consumption and its environmental and economic importance, clarifying the impact of rational use in reducing water waste and enhancing water security, as well as presenting simple daily practices that can be adopted to reduce consumption and transferred to the family and community environment, which enhances a culture of shared responsibility. This activity comes in line with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and Goal 5 (Gender Equality), affirming the leadership role of women in environmental awareness and active participation in protecting natural resources and achieving the principles of sustainable development. An educational workshop entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Protection from Gender-Based Violence.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Engineering / Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, organized an educational workshop entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Protection from Gender-Based Violence” on 19/1/2026, in implementation of the provisions of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar – Paragraph Five. The workshop was organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit within the framework of consolidating a safe university environment based on respect and equality. The workshop witnessed a remarkable attendance of female students and staff members, with the participation of a number of faculty members interested in issues of empowerment and social justice, affirming the university’s commitment to its awareness-raising role in building societal awareness that preserves women’s dignity and enhances their psychological and social security within the academic environment. The workshop focused on deepening the understanding of gender concepts, identifying forms of gender-based violence and their negative effects, in addition to introducing prevention and protection mechanisms and available legal and psychological support methods, while highlighting the vital role of educational institutions in empowering women and supporting their active participation in educational and professional pathways. The workshop also included interactive sessions that addressed: • Clarifying the concept of gender-based violence, its causes, and its societal implications. • Reviewing prevention and protection mechanisms and methods of psychological and legal support. • Emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 related to gender equality. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the necessity of consolidating a culture of mutual respect within the university community and intensifying awareness programs that support women, contributing to their protection, empowerment, and the enhancement of their role in building a safe and sustainable educational environment. A Workshop Entitled: “Women’s Empowerment and Education: The Path toward Sustainable Development”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Arts and Humanities, and presented by Asst. Lect. Rusul Naama Kamal, is organizing a workshop entitled: “Women’s Empowerment and Education: The Path toward Sustainable Development” The workshop will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026. This workshop aims to highlight the role of education in empowering women and enhancing their effective participation in society and the labor market. It also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality in accessing fair and inclusive educational opportunities. The workshop focuses on building capacities and skills that enable women to contribute to economic and social development, emphasizing that educational empowerment of women is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development in the long term. This activity comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 4: Quality Education). A Workshop Entitled: “The Role of Women in Media”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities, is organizing a workshop presented by Asst. Lecturer Ria Naseef Jasim entitled: “The Role of Women in Media” on Sunday, January 18, 2026. This workshop aims to highlight the importance of women’s participation in media work and content creation. It also seeks to enhance the role of women in conveying societal issues with objectivity and professionalism. The workshop focuses on empowering women in the media field and building their capacities in journalism and digital media. In addition, it discusses the challenges faced by women in media and the ways to address them. This activity comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality). Al-Mustaqbal University ranks first among private universities.

Awareness Seminar Entitled: “Gender Justice in Providing a Healthy Work Environment”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies / Computer Engineering Techniques Department, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Gender Justice in Providing a Healthy Work Environment” on 13/1/2026, in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Participation and Institutional Reform Pillar for the year 2025, and within the fifth clause related to encouraging the provision of a healthy work environment that achieves gender justice standards. It also fulfills Goal Five (Gender Equality) of the Sustainable Development Goals. The lecture was presented by (Asst. Lect. Mari Imran Mahdi / Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, and Ria Abdulwahab Hadawi / Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit in the Computer Engineering Techniques Department), and the seminar witnessed positive interaction from the attendees, confirming the importance of consolidating the principles of justice and equality in the academic work environment.
