Seminar entitled “Cyber Extortion and Its Impact on Women”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities / Department of English Language and Literature, held a seminar entitled “Cyber Extortion and Its Impact on Women” on Sunday, 15/2/2026. It was presented by Assistant Lecturer Russul Neama Kamal. The seminar aims to raise community awareness about the dangers of electronic violations that women are exposed to through social media and digital platforms. It also seeks to introduce participants to the forms of digital violence such as cyber extortion, defamation, harassment, and violation of privacy. It also aims to clarify the psychological, social, and legal effects resulting from this type of violence. It works to explain the legal means, protection methods, and ways of reporting cybercrimes. Finally, it seeks to promote a culture of safe use of technology and to build a more secure and respectful digital environment for women. This comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5: Gender Equality). Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in the classifications.

Seminar entitled: “Violence Against Women Between Reality and Legislation: Towards Building a Safe and Just Society”

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities, and presented by Ms. Russul Neama Kamal, Assistant Lecturer and Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College, is organizing a seminar entitled: “Violence Against Women Between Reality and Legislation: Towards Building a Safe and Just Society” The seminar will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2026. This seminar aims to shed light on the phenomenon of violence against women in contemporary society and to analyze the gap between legal legislation and its practical implementation, while enhancing community awareness of the importance of empowering and protecting women legally, psychologically, and socially, ultimately leading to the building of a safe and just society based on equality and respect for human rights. Clarifying the forms of violence against women (physical, psychological, economic, and digital). Highlighting the role of national and international laws in protecting women. Discussing the challenges that hinder the implementation of legislation. Promoting a culture of reporting and community support. Proposing practical recommendations for policymakers, educational institutions, and media organizations. This event is organized in implementation of the Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security / Pillar of Prevention and Protection, and in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5: Gender Equality). Al-Mustaqbal University ranks first among private universities in national classifications.

An awareness workshop entitled: “Violent Extremism… Its Causes and Ways of Addressing It.”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University’s Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Science, organized an awareness workshop entitled “Violent Extremism… Its Causes and Ways of Addressing It” on 11/2/2026. The workshop was held the framework of efforts aimed at promoting intellectual security and reinforcing a culture of moderation within the university community. The workshop addressed the concept of violent extremism and its intellectual, social, psychological, and economic causes, highlighting its negative impacts on individuals and society, particularly on youth. It emphasized the importance of spreading awareness and activating the role of educational institutions in building a moderate discourse based on dialogue and acceptance of others, in addition to empowering women to play their active role in community prevention. This activity aligns with the objectives of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women 2026, particularly the pillar of Protection and Prevention from Violence, which stresses the need to strengthen awareness programs and build a safe educational environment free from extremism, thereby supporting community peace and achieving sustainable development. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and students who demonstrated notable engagement through interventions and discussions that enriched the session’s themes, affirming the importance of continuing such purposeful intellectual activities.

An awareness seminar entitled “Women Between Rights and Duties.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, The Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Law, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Women Between Rights and Duties” on 10/2/2026, presented by Lecturer Mona Mohammed Kazem. This activity was held within the framework of implementing the National Plan – First Axis for Women: Guaranteeing Women’s Rights – Objective: Protecting Women. The seminar aimed to enhance community awareness of women’s rights and duties in accordance with legal and national frameworks, and to support women’s role in achieving comprehensive development. It also focused on promoting legal culture related to women’s rights, clarifying women’s responsibilities within the family, society, and workplace, reinforcing the principle of balance between rights and responsibilities, and supporting women’s participation in public life and decision-making.

Seminar entitled: “Combating Violence Against Women: Social and Legal Dimensions and Protection Mechanisms.”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities, and presented by Lecturer Ria Naseef Jassim, is organizing a seminar entitled: “Combating Violence Against Women: Social and Legal Dimensions and Protection Mechanisms” The seminar will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. This seminar aims to discuss the phenomenon of violence against women from both social and legal perspectives, analyzing its causes and impacts on the individual, the family, and society, while highlighting the legislative framework and available protection mechanisms, in a way that contributes to promoting a culture of combating violence, consolidating the principles of justice and equality, and building a safe environment that respects women’s dignity and rights. This comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Pillar of Prevention and Protection, and in fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5: Gender Equality). A women’s forum entitled: “Iraqi Women and Leading Change.”

organized the activities Al-Mustaqbal University of the Global Entrepreneurship Week as part of its ongoing support for entrepreneurial initiatives and its efforts to promote a culture of innovation among students, staff, and the local community. The Women’s Affairs Division organized the third day’s activities in cooperation with the Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Division at the University Presidency, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, on Tuesday, 10/2/2026. The program included a women’s forum entitled “Iraqi Women and Leading Change.” During the forum, Assistant Lecturer Mari Imran Al-Taie, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, addressed the concept of societal sustainability and its role in supporting entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of building effective community partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and enhance women’s participation across various sectors. The event also featured a specialized panel discussion on women’s entrepreneurship, presenting inspiring examples of Iraqi women who transformed challenges into real opportunities and innovative ideas into productive projects with economic and social impact. In this context, the Head of the Women’s Affairs Division met with Professor Dr. Tahani Jawad Mohammed Ali, Assistant Dean of the College of Agricultural Technologies, who presented her research experience in the agricultural field, noting that she had obtained a patent for manufacturing an environmentally friendly fertilizer product. She also provided an overview of her efforts in developing and cultivating new crop varieties uniquely produced by the university, displaying samples from the university farm. The Women’s Affairs Division also hosted legal expert Bardees Hassan Hamza Al-Issawi, President of Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda Charity Foundation and Coordinator of the Iraqi National Women’s Team in Babil, where she presented her pioneering experience in establishing the first factory in Babil Governorate for producing single-use medical sheets, aimed at providing job opportunities for widows, divorced women, and low-income female heads of households and empowering them economically. She also highlighted her initiatives in organizing training workshops and specialized courses to qualify women in project management and development, in addition to her humanitarian activities within civil society organizations, including providing food assistance and seasonal clothing to orphaned and widowed families. The third day concluded with presenting success stories of university female students and honoring them in recognition of their achievements, in addition to the participation of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Fine Arts in organizing an art exhibition that embodied the role of Iraqi women in society and highlighted their diverse contributions to development and nation-building. These activities were carried out in implementation of the Executive Plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women (2026) / Pillar Two (Economic Development of Iraqi Women). With regard to the pillar of Protection and Prevention within the implementation of the National Strategy to Combat Violence Against Women and Girls (2026), the event addressed the challenges and obstacles facing women in the private sector and hosted businesswomen to benefit from their expertise in this field. It also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

An awareness workshop entitled: “Women and Their Role in Promoting Justice and Human Rights.”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Prosthetics Techniques, organized an awareness workshop entitled: “Women and Their Role in Promoting Justice and Human Rights” The workshop was held on Monday, 9/2/2026. The workshop addressed the pivotal role of women in consolidating the principles of social justice and promoting human rights through empowerment and active participation in various fields, as an essential element in achieving sustainable development and building a balanced society based on equality and respect for human dignity. The workshop also shed light on contemporary challenges related to climate change and the risks resulting from it, and explained their impact on women and their role in raising community awareness and supporting initiatives aimed at reducing the effects of these changes. The workshop was organized in implementation of the Climate Change and Associated Risks Axis (Axis Five), within the framework of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to enhancing legal and social awareness and supporting women’s role in addressing societal and environmental challenges.

An awareness workshop entitled: “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, presented an awareness workshop entitled “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Widad Hamza Shakir, and she addressed the incorrect habits practiced by some women in attempting to treat newborn children through traditional methods or herbs that may harm the child’s health. The doctor recommended spreading the culture of seeking treatment through hospitals and specialized doctors in order to preserve children’s lives. The workshop was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Kadhim Jaloub Hassan and Lecturer Saba Sabah Tayah, as well as a number of students from the College of Medicine. Also present was Lecturer Mary Imran Al-Taie, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University. The workshop was held on Tuesday, 3/2/2026, and it came within the Protection Pillar for developing women’s self-protection skills. It was also within Goal Three (Good Health and Well-Being) of the Sustainable Development Goals.
