Educational Workshop Entitled: “The Impact of Information Technology on Women”

Under the Patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University The Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Fine Arts, organized an educational dialogue workshop entitled: “The Impact of Information Technology on Women” The workshop addressed a broad and diverse topic, highlighting both the positive and negative effects of information technology on women’s lives across various fields. Positive Aspects: 1. Improved Access to Education and Training: Providing opportunities for online learning and the development of academic and technical skills. 2. Economic Empowerment: Enabling women to work remotely and engage in freelance digital work, thus strengthening their economic independence. 3. Social Communication and Community Participation: Empowering women to express their views and participate in public debates and social causes through digital platforms. 4. Increased Career Opportunities: Opening new career paths for women in areas such as programming, digital design, and data science, helping reduce the gender gap in these fields. 5. Improved Health and Self-Care: Utilizing health applications and online medical consultations to raise awareness and improve women’s overall well-being. 6. Enhanced Cross-Cultural Communication: Building bridges for cultural and professional exchange among women worldwide, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation on global issues such as women’s rights. Negative Aspects: Despite the many benefits, the workshop also highlighted some of the challenges women face in the digital era, including: • Online Harassment: Women are more vulnerable to cyber harassment and security threats, affecting their personal safety. • The Digital Divide: Limited access to technology in some regions restricts women’s learning and professional development opportunities. • Professional Challenges: Women in the technology sector may face barriers in proving themselves or accessing equal opportunities due to social and cultural biases. In conclusion, the workshop emphasized that while information technology has become a vital tool in empowering women and expanding their horizons, it also requires addressing the challenges and risks that accompany it.
