Our current era is facing rapid environmental changes and increasing sustainability challenges, hence the need to instill good environmental practices in society more than ever before, so most sectors seek to achieve environmental sustainability, and libraries stand out as educational and social institutions to play a prominent role in this field. Sustainable green libraries are not just an idea, but a global trend that aspires to reduce the environmental impact of these institutions by instilling consistent environmental values and adopting sustainable building and operating habits. The research sheds light on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the design and management of green libraries, the selection of sustainable building materials, how to reduce carbon emissions through energy use and rationalization, smart systems for lighting, heating and cooling, waste reduction and disposal in an environmentally friendly manner, and improving the quality of life. The research also addresses the impact of libraries and their role in promoting environmental awareness and implementing sustainable activities among members of contemporary society, as they act as environmental awareness platforms by organizing workshops and educational events to encourage the adoption of sustainable activities in their daily lives. The research is based on applied and analytical examples to provide a comprehensive vision on the implementation of a balance between advanced technology and environmental sustainability, and reviews the basic principles of implementing an environmentally friendly library in terms of design and allocation of green spaces.
