Awareness Seminar: “What Should We Do During the Election Period?”

University of Al-Mustaqbal – Women’s Affairs Division Awareness Seminar: “What Should We Do During the Election Period?” As part of its efforts to enhance electoral awareness among Iraqi women, the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Al-Mustaqbal, in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts, organized an awareness seminar entitled “What Should We Do During the Election Period?” on June 30, 2025. The seminar was delivered by Lecturer Suhaila Kazem. The seminar aimed to educate participants on the important role of women in the electoral process and to create a supportive environment that enables them to take part in official positions and engage actively in political life. It also emphasized the need to develop women’s community leadership skills by understanding their electoral rights and recognizing the significance of their effective participation in shaping political decisions.


Awareness Campaign Titled: “Your Voice is the Nation’s Future”

As part of efforts to promote democratic awareness and support effective political participation, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Nursing at the University of Al-Mustaqbal, organized a comprehensive awareness campaign titled “Your Voice is the Nation’s Future.” The campaign aims to encourage women to participate positively and actively in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq. The campaign activities were held within the college premises and included a variety of events such as educational lectures, awareness brochures, and open dialogues. These activities focused on highlighting the important political role of Iraqi women and emphasized their position as essential partners in decision-making, community-building, and the promotion of true citizenship values. The campaign underscored that voting is a constitutional right and a national responsibility that must be embraced by all. It also stressed the importance of choosing competent candidates—those with national vision and realistic programs dedicated to serving the community and strengthening its institutions. In her remarks, the Head of the Women’s Affairs Division expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the College of Nursing for its active role in supporting women’s causes. She pointed out that this initiative is part of a broader series of activities aimed at empowering women politically and socially. It is worth noting that this campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5, which focuses on gender equality, and Goal 16, which advocates for strong institutions and inclusive, transparent societies.


Participation of the Women’s Affairs Division in the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

The Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Al-Mustaqbal participated in the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, held in the presence of high-level representatives from the United Nations, government officials, and prominent academic figures. This participation reflects the university’s firm commitment to environmental and developmental issues of both human and strategic importance. The event featured discussions with representatives from UN organizations, alongside national and academic leaders, focusing on strengthening cooperation to address the challenges of desertification and drought—threats that continue to jeopardize food security and environmental stability in many regions. The Women’s Affairs Division’s involvement aimed to highlight the critical role of women in combating climate change and desertification, through awareness-raising, sustainable practices, and the promotion of initiatives such as afforestation and natural resource conservation. This stems from a deep belief that women are key partners in achieving sustainable development. In her speech, the division’s representative emphasized the need to integrate environmental concerns into community empowerment programs and called for enhanced coordination between academic and environmental institutions to foster a more conscious and sustainable society.


Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

As part of its health and community awareness efforts, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness campaign on breast cancer on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The campaign was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahira Fahtan Abdul Jabbar, Ms. Rusul Fawzi Karim, and Ms. Rayahin Abdul Nasser Abbas. The campaign aimed to highlight the importance of early detection and its role in the prevention of breast cancer, to raise awareness about the symptoms of the disease and how to deal with it, and to promote health awareness among female students and university staff. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout and positive interaction from the participants, who expressed their appreciation for this purposeful initiative. They emphasized the importance of continuing such awareness activities that contribute to enhancing health culture within the academic community.


“An Academic Seminar Entitled: Guidelines for Students on Effective Time Management for Studying”

The Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the College of Education – Department of Psychological and Educational Sciences – organized a scientific seminar titled “Guidelines for Students on How to Manage Their Time for Studying”, as part of efforts to achieve the pillar of participation and institutional reform (Paragraph One). The seminar was held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Engineering Building, Hall 105. The first session, titled “Tips and Guidelines for Effective Studying,” was presented by Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University. The second session, titled “Students’ Preparation for Exams and Effective Study Habits,” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sanaa Bahaa Al-Din, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College. Awareness brochures were distributed to students and discussed in the context of modern teaching methods, aligned with current developments, all within a supportive and conducive learning environment.


“Visit of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Women’s Affairs Department to Al-Mustaqbal University during Sustainability Week Festival”

The Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University Shines During Sustainability Week with a Rich Program of Activities As part of the Sustainability Week events, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University participated with a rich and distinctive program that included a series of awareness and cultural activities, reflecting the division’s mission to empower women and enhance their role in sustainability and sustainable development. The division’s booth stood out with remarkable engagement, attracting 1,694 visitors. On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, we had the honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by Dr. Nada Al-Abbadi, Head of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry, accompanied by Dr. Shaimaa Akram Othman and Mr. Sajjad Mahmoud Salman. The visit included an inspection tour of the innovation and sustainability exhibitions, where the delegation reviewed outstanding research and practical projects presented by university students and their supervisors. These projects showcased the students’ creativity and the university’s commitment to sustainability in its environmental, economic, and social dimensions. At the conclusion of the visit, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University expressed his sincere gratitude to the ministerial delegation, appreciating their presence and support, and honored them with the University Shield in recognition of their efforts
