Qualifying Graduates for Labor Market: Integration Skills & Professional Readiness

Part of the efforts exerted to link Educational Outcomes to Labor Market as well as enhancing Graduates Readiness so as to be integrated into the Professional Community; a Workshop has been organized under the title “Labor Market & Integration into Local Community” We would like to note that the Workshop has been administered by Prof Dr. Muhammad Amana Gitan / College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Tikrit. It has included three main issues focusing on a. Labor Market Requirements; b. Labor Market Analysis; and c. Local & Locational Markets with the Skills Role at Employment Process. We are obliged to note as well that the Workshop has witnessed the participation of an elite group of Specialists and Experts in the Fields of Rehabilitation & Employment. a. Labor Market Requirements This part of the Workshop has been submitted by Mr. Kadhim Jaafar Allawi / Directorate of Babylon Education, in which he has talked about Labor Market Requirements, highlighting a set of basic skills that Graduates should possess in order to be capable of achieving strong competitive opportunities, the most prominent of which are 1. Linguistic Skills: It is quite important to mastering languages, especially English, being one of the basic tools for Communication at Multicultural Work Environments. 2. Cultural Skills: There is an essential need to understanding different Cultures. Thus, Graduates could flexibly deal with their Colleagues and Clients at both Local and Global Markets. 3. Social Relationships: It is necessary to establish a strong Professional Network where Relationships do constitute an essential element in the Creation of Job Opportunities and in the Development of One's Career. 4. Work Environment: It should be taken into consideration the ability of being adapted to different Work Environments and coping with their Challenges, as well as the ability to addressing Initiatives and working with diverse teams. b. Labor Market Analysis Labor Market Analysis has been introduced by Mr. Haidar Hussein Kadhim / Directorate of Babylon Education, in which he has addressed several basic topics, which contribute to a deeper understanding of the Market and its requirements, including: 1. Labor Market Supply & Demand: There is a dynamic relationship between Job Availability and Number of Job Seekers, keeping in mind how these factors do affect Employment Opportunities. 2. Differences between Market & Marketing: While the Concept "Market" refers to Economic Opportunities, the Concept "Marketing" includes Strategies related to Products Promotion, Services, and even Individuals Seeking Work. 3. Skills & Labor Market Developments: We are obliged to keep in mind that Continuous Learning and Promotion of Skills shall be in line with the rapid changes occurring in the various fields of Labor Market. 4. Developing & Refining Skills: More attention shall be paid to promotion of Personal and Professional Skills through Training Courses and Workshops, with much focus on the development of Critical and Creative Thinking Skills as well as Problem Solving. c. Local and Locational Markets with the Skills Role at Employment Process It is worth noting that the Workshop has been concluded with an Interactive Session submitted by Ms. Omaima Kadhim Al-Taie, Head of Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Division, in which she has discussed Skills Development Impact on the Improvement of Employment Opportunities, highlighting meanwhile the Concepts of Local & Locational Market, and mainly addressing the following issues: 1. Local Market: It includes all available Job Opportunities, being affected by certain Economic and Social Factors. 2. On-Site Market: It refers to the market, which adopts Digital & Technical Skills, and accordingly, Graduates would be capable of accessing Global Jobs via the Internet. 3. Proceed of Professional Qualification Training: Main focus shall be on the Promotion of certain Specializations through Training and Self-Development Programs that would undoubtedly lead to achieving Job Stability & High Professionalism. 4.
