The Women’s Affairs Division, in collaboration with the College of Agricultural Technologies, is organizing a workshop titled:
“Political Participation and Development for Iraqi Women: Towards Empowering Female Leadership”
The workshop will be delivered by:
Assistant Lecturer: Ritaj Aqeel Dawood Kareem
Assistant Lecturer: Rofal Fawzi Kareem
on Tuesday, July 1, 2025
This workshop aims to shed light on the importance of Iraqi women’s participation in political life and to enhance their role in decision-making positions by building their leadership capabilities and developing their political and social skills.
This initiative comes in response to the urgent need to politically empower women amid the challenges they face within Iraqi society—particularly in terms of fair representation and active participation.
The workshop will address several key themes, including:
• Analyzing the current political landscape for women
• Reviewing the social, cultural, and legislative barriers limiting their participation
• Showcasing successful female leadership models
• Presenting strategies for political development through training and women’s networking
Furthermore, the workshop aims to raise participants’ awareness of their constitutional and political rights and equip them with the tools needed to engage in political work, participate in elections, join political parties, and contribute to public policymaking.
The workshop will conclude with an action plan and practical recommendations to support women’s empowerment and pave the way for a new generation of female leaders capable of making a positive impact on Iraq’s political future.
