As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to meet the national and global standards of environmental and academic sustainability, Prof. Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, participated in the second official meeting of the central committee assigned to prepare for the upcoming visit of the evaluation delegations from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Environment, held on July 19, 2025. 🏛️ The meeting focused on reviewing the essential sustainability criteria and institutional requirements needed to qualify for the “First Sustainable University in Iraq” award. Discussions included infrastructure readiness, resource management, energy efficiency, and the transition to renewable energy sources, in addition to a field inspection of the university buildings to assess their contribution to environmental and sustainable development goals. 🗣️ During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sulwan reaffirmed the full readiness of the university to receive the visiting delegations, highlighting the pivotal role of the Energy Research Center in driving the transition to clean energy through its various projects and initiatives in solar energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure. 🌿 This participation reflects the center’s strong commitment to supporting the university’s vision of integrated sustainability and aligns with Iraq’s national goals for enhancing higher education quality and institutional environmental responsibility.
