My PhD, that I done between 2017-2022, was titled “Enhancing the removal of refractory pollutants
from water using microwave-electrocoagulation system”. The research project was aiming to develop
more efficient, environmentally friendly, and affordable technologies to help tackle the water crisis in the
world. It focused on enhancing the water treatment in terms of the removal of complex and refractory pollutants. It involved enhancing a traditional electrochemical technology called the Electrocoagulation
and combined it with Microwave technology to create a hybrid treatment system. The system showed
great efficiency in removing the targeted pollutant from water. In addition, the system proved to use
much less energy and provide a non-toxic sludge with less water content in compared with other
treatment technologies.
