Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the direct supervision of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, the College of Administrative Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University has announced the organization of the “Second International Scientific Conference” entitled: “Poverty and Sustainable Development in Iraq: Cost of Impact and Response Policy” The conference will be held on April 13–14, 2026, at Al-Mustaqbal University, in strategic scientific partnership with the Faculty of Commerce at Mansoura University (Arab Republic of Egypt) and the College of Business Economics at Al-Nahrain University. The conference aims to provide an in-depth analytical reading of the reality of poverty in Iraq, highlighting the economic and social costs resulting from its expansion. It also seeks to assess the effectiveness of government response policies and social protection programs, with a focus on mechanisms to enhance environmental and economic sustainability in line with Iraq’s development vision. The conference serves as a platform bringing together a distinguished group of researchers and academics from various Iraqi, Arab, and international universities to discuss research papers across several main themes: Economic Track: Analysis of growth indicators and development challenges. Administrative Track: The role of institutions in managing developmental crises. Accounting Track: Transparency and oversight in social support programs. Financial Track: Financing sustainable development projects. This year’s conference is distinguished by its special focus on modern tools, exploring the role of digital transformation, financial technology (FinTech), and artificial intelligence in formulating innovative solutions to developmental challenges and supporting inclusive growth to ensure efficient delivery of support to its beneficiaries. The organizing committee has extended an open invitation to all academics and interested individuals to actively participate with their research papers and abstracts. In support of scientific research, Al-Mustaqbal University has announced that: Participation in the conference is completely free. The conference will host participating researchers throughout the event. This conference represents a pioneering step by Al-Mustaqbal University in strengthening cross-border academic cooperation and providing practical recommendations to decision-makers to help address poverty and achieve sustainable development goals in Iraq.
